Our Teacher Training Course delivers a comprehensive, theoretical and practical hands on training program that includes Asanas, Pranayama, Kriyas, anatomy, adjusting, sequencing, mantra chanting, meditation and other traditional and contemporary Yoga techniques.
This unique YTT will train the applicant in the following styles . Hatha , Kundalini , Kriyas , Yin Yang , Tibetan Yoga , Yin , Vinyasa and include a comprehensive study in Trataka, Vipasana, Zen and other meditation techniques.
Substantial emphasis is placed on analytic training on how to teach and practice these techniques as well as guided practice of the techniques. In conjunction, you will learn Patanjali’s Eight Limb yoga philosophy and how you can incorporate this into your own practice and day-to-day life. Daily chanting, meditation and pranayama provide spiritual structure and compliment the more physical practices of the curriculum.

Testimonials - what our new yoga teachers say
This journey has offered me the opportunity to grow not only my body, making it stronger and more flexible, it further strengthened my mind to tackle life with a stronger confidence and a silent peace within my mind and soul. I feel more confident in my yoga poses and enjoyed learning more on the body anatomy as well as the different meditation methods. It is great to realise that yoga is for everyone and that yoga is a practice of your own strengths and abilities. I have learnt the importance of mindfulness and staying connected to the here and now. It is absolutely fabulous that I now have the knowledge to sequence a safe and fun yoga class and cannot wait to travel this journey enriching others with the joy of yoga! Thanks to Rosalyne for her knowledge and insight offered in such a calm manner, and Laurence for his guidance, knowledge and support throughout this journey; a true inspiration! Charlene ( South Africa)
" It has been a wonderful experience, I enjoyed your teachings and how you present yourself in every stage. I liked the fact that you weren't stranger to me, which made it more enjoyable, I thank you for all great tips and fun teachings, I realize now that it is so different being on the other side of the mat, but I really want to be a good teacher,. Thank you both , Laurence and Ros for all your hard work, I will say that with so much information It will take time to master the art - I understand now- probably years, but I am ready now to start my new Yogini life! Thank you. " Matty ( South Africa)
" I have learnt so much during this course. Laurence is a wealth of information and inspires me to read up, research and go the extra mile to know more. From the beautiful sequences that I will always use in my practice, to the individual asanas and how to apply and transition to and from these, I have an understanding, true insight and most importantly, know that even I can know, do and be what Yoga is. There is so much to say here.
I love that when I go to a class now, I have an understanding of the rich heritage and traditions that are applied in each of the postures, pranayamas and all yoga styles. This course has achieved everything and more that I was looking for. I feel stronger, I am stronger inside and out. I can feel change in me. Good change. Slow change but change that I intend nurturing through continued practice and study. I am most grateful for the encouragement I got to join the course, irrespective of the timing and work pressures. Its probably the best gift I have given myself in the past few years. I thank and salute my teachers and trust that they will be there for the next stage of my journey as I hone my skills and grow into a better Yogini. Thank you Laurence and Ros. " Namaste Paula - South Africa
It’s really hard to know where to begin. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I embarked on this journey. Looking back on it now however I don’t think anything can or will prepare you. I am honoured and privileged to say that I competed my 200 hour YTT with the Chaitanya yoga school. Lawrence and Rose are everything you could hope for in a teacher/friend and guide through your journey as a Yogi. With kindness, compassion and wisdom they both guided me into understanding things about myself/my body and what it means to be a teacher. I felt in such good hands going through the ups and downs that you face throughout this course. I couldn’t feel more prepared or ready to start my journey as a teacher and its with a happy and confident heart knowing I have two of the most unbelievable teachers and Yogis behind me for support and guidance in the future to come. Thank you, Jessica- SA
This 200 hours has given me more direction than I realized I needed, reminding me that I am capable of anything as long as I practice it regularly and accept the help that the Chaitanya team has so willingly and helpfully provided. I know I have plenty to learn but as a basis to begin I certainly believe I’ve been given a running start and I appreciate the effort that I know went into preparing us for the future. Thank you for opening your studio to me and opening my mind, chakras and future. I can’t wait to apply everything I’ve learnt and still will learn. Roxanne -SA
I am glad that I took this journey and I will keep it with me forever. It has truly helped me grow as a yogini. Was very very insightful. Thank you so much Laurence and Ros. Ashley. SA
I enjoyed the experience. I have learned so much, not only in the training, but every class i have participated in since I started my YTT. I admire you both more than I could ever explain and will for all my days, months and years as a teacher, keep refering back to you guys for advice and support and guidance. You have a really special recipe, you know what you are doing and none of us ever felt like you are doing it for the money. You do everything with passion and love and made us all feel so empowered and appreciated and loved. Thank you for what you have done for me, that you put in me my own 'Samadhi' just by giving me this opportunity. I have been many things and done many jobs. I have four degrees and have not felt as passionate about either of them. I will go out into the big wide world and make you proud. Love you both!!! Thank you Ross and Laurence! Miki.SA
I really enjoyed it! I've been waiting for years to do my 200hr YTT course and am so thankful that the timing was finally right for me. I loved the way the class was structured, as far as course material and information. Volumes and volumes of information to read and learn from now. I learned so many things about yoga that I never knew, although I do yoga more than a decade. Why we chant, why we do mudras, why we breathe, why we invert, etc etc. basically the 'why' of everything. So I feel that yoga became more of a well-rounded body-mind-soul experience for me rather than just a physical and semi-mental relaxation practice that it maybe has been for me up until now. Waiting for my own classes as part of the practice a Chaitanya Yoga school. Awesome program and I’d recommend it to anyone! Thank you to you and Ros for everything! Laura - USA
I have never enjoyed yoga as much as I enjoyed doing this course. It has taught me so much about the body, how to heal and quiet the mind and the history of yoga is just incredible. I couldn’t have asked for better tutors to help me through this journey. I am so thankful that Laurence and Roz believe so much in me and I will do my upmost best to make them proud. This journey has been impeccable. I always knew that being a yoga teacher is hard work but to actually see behind the scene and how much work goes into practicing yoga, I am in awe for my yoga teachers to have helped and believed in me from the beginning. Thank you Laurence and Roz; you have taught me well and I promise I won’t disappoint you. Namaste." Lazane - SA
It has been a great start to my Yogic journey. I learned to respect the place where I am at, and I have ignited a passion to go further. Now I look forward to what my Yoga future holds. Thank you teachers for everything. Martine ( South Africa)
My experience of this 200 hour journey is that it has been challenging and stressful at times but I have learnt so much in turn about the philosophy and practice of the art of yoga and I am truly grateful for the knowledge I have gained. Liz
I have so much to say and don't even know where to start so I guess I'll just fall in :-) This has been an incredible journey. A roller coaster really filled with emotions. There was smiles, joy, lots of laughter but also sometimes frustration and getting cross with myself for not remembering and fighting with myself throughout challenging asanas. Some days were good but then there were times that my legs burned like fire. And I would get so upset when I collapse out of a posture. But, that is where you (my guru) played such an important roll. You taught me to stop fighting so hard and just breath. That everything does not have to be perfect. That has always been such a big thing for me. Never believing in myself, trusting myself. Since I remember I have had issues with self doubt. Stupid things which raced over in my head. Like will they like me? What if i fail? What if they think I'm stupid? I know it sounds petty right? But that is how my overthinking, overactive mind works. It just doesn't stop. It might not come across to people who don't know me but my self confidence was zero. I based everything on what people told me. But you Laurence, you taught me to let go... to let the shit go. This has been a journey of self discovery. I really did not think that I would make it. But you never gave up on us. You were there every step of the way, guiding us with our knowledge and patience. You sure have a lot of patience. This journey has taught me not to sweat the small stuff. That life goes on regardless. To stop investing so much energy in negative shit. (You're energy will flow to where your attention goes) My eyes have opened. It's like I actually see the world for the very first time. Amazing how many people have noticed this change. Asking what have I done. I'm different. Damn I feel different. For the first ti me I feel totally comfortable with me. With who I have become.
I am so grateful for being part of Chaitanya yoga. It has indeed been life changing. I'm grateful to you for giving me a chance to view life differently. For taking me part of this journey. For making new friends. I will never be able to thank you enough. Namaste Lesley
Ok, basically to keep it short and sweet. I have loved every minute. I finally know a little more about the idea/principle of Yoga and how much my body is actually capable of doing. I have learnt that quite often the correct way to do a pose is actually the easiest way. My mind and body misses yoga on the days I am unable to make it. Which to me means that Yes, Yoga can be addictive, but in a good way. It has so many positive effects on me that I cannot imagine my life without it! I do wish there was more time... time to learn more in depth. It feels like even after these 200 hours there is still so much I want to know and know how to do better. I hope it is only the beginning of my yoga life journey! Namaste and Thank You! Ingrid
I cannot believe how much there is to learn about the yoga practice. I feel I have only just scratched the surface of knowledge available. But this journey has confirmed my love for yoga, and how it makes me feel inside and out. And with being able to assist other people with my knowledge I have gained is so inspiring. I cannot wait for my journey to continue. Namaste Rhian
I have come to realize that I really do know nothing and I still have a lot to learn , I have also come to realize my deep love for yoga and that it is something I am very passionate about practicing, as well as learning and sharing my knowledge with others. I am very blessed and grateful to be
given this opportunity to learn this, I am even more blessed to have learnt with such an incredible teacher that was very patient. This 200-hour practice has been challenging and I am so happy that I have come this far, and I can’t wait for the future and to see how far I go. Kristy
I really enjoyed the YTT and believe that my practice was deepened, lengthened and strengthened by the experience. I’m grateful for having had the experience and especially grateful to you for creating the opportunity. Although some parts felt rushed, and in hindsight I would have preferred to learn fewer styles more thoroughly, I appreciated the variety (and flexibility!). I don’t know where this will take me but I know I’ve taken a turn in the road! Namaste, Laurence. Taryn S.
I've thoroughly enjoyed the training and I feel that the information I have gained is invaluable. My aim was to deepen my own practice and to understand yoga better. I feel that I can now continue to grow in the discipline. The flexibility and accommodating of my hours and commitments was so important and appreciated to allow me to do this training as a one on one, something that I would never have been able to do working full time. Carmen
This experience was an emotional, mental and physical rollercoaster ride. Only having done yoga for 3 months prior to a
200 hour YTT experience was challenging as I didn’t even know what the most basic and common poses were in yoga. I
did however learn really quickly….. I not only learnt names of yoga poses, different styles, breathing techniques, how to
put a class together and execute it (not always done that well…. Hahah), but so much more. I found Laurence
entertaining as well as extremely knowledgeable. He pushed me not only physically but mostly mentally, not only with
the huge amounts of information given to me to learn, but also pushed me to find out exactly what make me tick, and
what I am actually capable of. Thank you Laurence for your time, energy, knowledge, encouragement and patience with
me….. there were definitely some days when my energy was so low I just wanted to throw in the towel and go home,
but somehow you managed to encourage me to just keep going on, seeing something in me that I couldn’t see and
didn’t have the energy to see in myself, so thank you for that. Thank you also to my husband Stephan’s for going on this
journey with me and sharing all the emotions…… It was a wild ride that pushed me to extremes physically (mostly
because of some health challenges), mentally as there is really a lot of information to try an absorb in such a short time
especially if you are new to yoga, and emotionally to thinking you are starting to “get” this whole yoga thing to thinking
you are completely off track and not “getting” anything about yoga on any level, but all in all it was a great experience
with its highs and lows and I would recommend anyone to do it, as you will not only learn about yoga, but more
importantly you will learn a tremendous amount about yourself. Thank you kindly Laurence. NAMASTE. Alessia
This was an absolutely amazing experience, something that I wanted to do for a long time and I am so happy that I found LAURENCE and could attend school at Chaitanya yoga, and have met ROSALYN with all their incredible information. It was a bit nerve wracking when we started sequencing classes by ourselves, but with every week it just become more and more clear and exiting. Iwill treasure for always your time spent with us, your knowledge and wisdom shared and it is a never ending journey. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS LIFE CHANGING TRANSFORMATION. LOVE ALWAYS –NAMASTE- LEONI - SA
i have for many years wanted to do a Yoga training course and I am happy that I did it through you guys, as I felt very comfortable with you, and I know I have a guide for life. Thank you. Aliki (South Africa)
The outcome of this course has exceeded all expectations and I commend my teachers, Laurence and Roslyn for their very unique approach to all subject matter.
The knowledge imparted on a physical and theoretical level was intense yet not too overwhelming. In terms of the additional reading, I believe this will make sense as I deepen my knowledge and practice in the coming years. I feel sufficiently equipped to begin my practice as a yoga teacher and know I will grow in confidence with the ongoing support offered by my instructors. On very personal note and not to be over dramatic, this course saved my life. Not only because of the wonderful people I met and the encouragement, advice and compassion I received but I left every yoga class feeling more empowered even after emotional breakdowns and physical tiredness and illness. I am thankful for this time which will forever be remembered as a major turning point in my life. Thank you to my wonderful teachers, Laurence and Roslyn. Nikki Joshua ( South Africa)
Thanks Laurence & Ros, for making my teacher training super super awesome and helping each of us accomplish our dreams! I fell in love with yoga ever since I entered Chaitanya Yoga studio. Through my practice I was taught how to build strength, how to connect with my inner self and most importantly how to love me. I feel as if I am now filled with an abundance of light and can finally say I am in my happy place. So much love for this studio and the people in it, it's been an amazing experience. Namaste my teachers" Cyrin ( South Africa)
I felt very comfi with all of you, with the teachers in Training and Laurence and Rose. I wished Rose were Here and we could have had more interaction Face to face. I learnt a lot and the big field of Yoga was almost new for me so it was very interesting to listen to you 2. I liked the practical work and i liked to Join almost every class to learn More and just to focus on Yoga also for my own practice. > I am happy that I realised that Option to do the YTT and I think I already found a bit more stillness Inside myself what I was searching for :-) Thank you so much. I Can feel That you 2 Love Yoga from the deep heart. Thats great to See! Anna ( Switzerland)
I am so pleased with my decision to have attended teacher training with Chaitanya School of Yoga. Laurence and Rosalyne are phenomenal teachers with so much knowledge and experience . Having done several teachers training in Los Angeles I must say that, above all my other training, this training has left me with the most confidence to be able to go out and teach yoga. You can expect to get extensive knowledge in many forms of yoga, which makes this training so unique and fun! Thank you Chaitanya for this amazing life changing experience . Namaste." Danielle Kali (USA)
I thought I already know much about Yoga, but WOW you and Ross have taught me sooooo much more. Yes, i know I am not the spiritual type, but I think you might even have awakened a little “thing” in me, that’ll make go deeper into the spiritual direction too. Because I think there is so much more and I can not wait to learn all about it . So thank you very much for opening not only my Anahata, Manipura , savdhisthana and Muladhara with all you lovely poses but also my Sahasrara and Ajna wit all the beautiful meditations and my Vishuddha with the “ooms” etc. Thank you for everything. Here’s to making a change. Peace. Love. Happiness. Sonja (Namibia)
Phew!! Extremely Comprehensive, comes together nicely at the end about half way you feel like you will never get there, than with 3 weeks to go suddenly you’re doing your classes and all is well in the world. Definitely requires further study in order to actually understand all the information. Thanks, Natasha SA
Dear Ross, Dear Laurence, I had a wonderful time with you practicing yoga. I learned far more than asanas and sequencing them into a perfect yoga class in this YTT. I am starting to see the big picture -noticing that there is to much more to discover. I think I will need ages to read through all the material you gave me… I am looking forward to that journey. Thank you for beeing part of it!!! Your yoga classes a worth a 12 hours flight across the continents.
Namaste - I bow to the teacher(s) Josephine W - Germany
This 200 hours program of integrated theory and practice has made me realize how gentle yet strong yoga can be on the body, mind and yes, especially on the spirit. I am very grateful toward myself and my teachers for completing this part of a very exciting journey ahead is with pride and joy that I too will one day be able to pay this gift forward unto others and in becoming a Yogi master within the eyes of myself and my great Divine. I have learnt the true power of Pranayama and the real benefit of opening the chakras. Being able to now play with the poses and design many different sequences to my own yoga practice, it is with pride and joy that I too will one day be able to pay this gift forward unto others and in becoming a Yogi master within the eyes of myself and my great Divine.
Namaste. Andre v H- SA
I have learnt so much in terms of practice and the in depth methodology behind yoga. This journey has helped me gain a new understanding of how to do each pose, as well as why. I have a new understanding of the different schools of yoga, and how each method benefits you. I feel that doing this teacher training will benefit my personal practice, and I am excited to one day lead a class and be a ‘goddess’. Thank you Ros and Laurence. Kate SA
All I can say is wow it has been an amazing journey for me in both deepening my own practise and actually having the confidence to teach. I must admit at the start I asked myself will I ever be able to do this but we were taken through the process step by step and taught the asanas and how to structure a class in fact various styles of classes. Laurence and Roz are a wealth of knowledge in theory and practise. Oh My God the first class was so nerve-wracking I think I hyperventilated through the whole thing but the second one was much better, I still need to do the Hatha class when I get back which I am looking forward to. One thing I have taken to heart is to be your authentic self and Laurence advised us to teach friends and family so I have had the perfect opportunity here in Ireland and did a class with my sisters, once they got over the initial giggles at the fact that their sister was teaching them yoga they really got into it and really enjoyed it. I asked them for their honest feedback the main thing I wanted to know was did I sound like me or someone else. Their response was Breda you sound like yourself just calmer and softer so mission accomplished. The next person I had the opportunity to practise on was my oldest friend who has a very complex medical history so mobility is a big issue for her so I adjusted accordingly kept it very gentle in seated and we worked through Pranayama with gentle movement, she said it really helped to calm her as she works in a very high stress job. All in all I have has a lovely experience with you all and look forward to what the future brings and here’s to many years of yoga at Chaitanya Yoga . Breda
I have loved every single moment of my time on this journey Some has been rather emotional (losing my faith in my abilities), but through gentle and loving guidence, I have found my strength to carry on I have been given a wealth of amazing information that I can take with me, and for that I am eternally grateful My love and understanding of the beautiful practice of yoga has deepened, and I will continue to carry that through my practice, and my life Thank you to Laurence and Rosalyn for making my yoga journey so much more enriched I look forward to taking my passion and deep love for yoga and meditation out there, and I hope to inspire others as you have inspired me Much love xxxx Namaste Yvette
My experience of this 200 hour journey is that it has been challenging and stressful at times but I have learnt so much in turn about the philosophy and practice of the art of yoga and I am truly grateful for the knowledge I have gained. Liz
My experience........from the first day that I sent Laurence the first emai,l I was impressed with him. I was impressed with
his communication skills, his turnaround time answering any questions I had was efficient and to the point. He has the
ability to make you feel at ease all the time. When we stopped here at CHAITANYA SCHOOL OF YOGA, Laurence walked up
to us and greeted and welcomed us. He made us feel so welcome and part of the school immediately. Let me be honest to
do 200 hours in 28 days is not an easy task, but we pushed through. Yes there was days when I cried and wanted to give
up...I must say, personally I am so thankful that my wife Alessia did it with me, she is my rock and inspiration (I would not
have done this course if it wasn’t for Alessia) THANK YOU for the incredible journey.
For two people who had three months of yoga experience and train them in 28 days, .and then send them out in the world
with a certificate with your schools name on it, is no easy task at all, and this is where I have to say thank you to Laurence.
You saw the potential in us from day one, that we didn’t see in ourselves. Thank you so much. Stephan
I gained immense more knowledge in so many different aspects of my practise – both practically
and theoretically and am a lot closer in merging the spiritual side and the physical side which
brought me to the course in the first place . I really appreciated the discipline shown towards all our
tasks and yet the playfulness and fun side of the practise as well - So huge gratitude for sharing your
immense knowledge in an unjudgmental way-) Debbie A ( SA )
The course was most enjoyable and stimulating. Laurence had the perfect balance of sterness and joviality to keep
the course interesting and stimulating yet maintain respect and discipline. The hours were perfect and there was an
ease and respect around our other commitments be they work or social. The poses were thoroughly explained and
practiced . Course materials were thorough and the expectation of discipline and dedication to read the referances
was your own which was in keeping with a yogic discipline. Attendance of classes was expected (however I didn’t due
to covid and work and not attending definitely impacted negatively on my ability with sequencing) the classes for the
weeks were always tied in with the YTT programme which was an added advantage. Lawrence is very knowledgable
and shared so much , he challenged ,stimulated and encouraged .
The 200 hours flew by and I will miss my stimulating and challenging weekends Manuela C (SA)
